Internet-based telemedicine: An empirical investigation of objective and subjective video quality
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study focuses on the Internet-based telemedicine with the goal of understanding the relationship between objective and subjective video qualitymeasures and the decisionmaking capability ofmedical professional using an ophthalmology video. Objective and subjective measures are calculated using PSNR and the perception of human viewers respectively. An emulated Internet testbed was created for experiments. Results indicate that jitter and delay have significant effect on the objective quality values. Subjective quality, on the other hand, not only depends on the same two factors, but also depends on which critical frames the provider is able to see and work with. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. An m-health system for real-time wireless communication of medical video based on open-source software is presented. The objective is to deliver a low-cost telemedicine platform which will allow for reliable remote diagnosis m-health applications such as emergency incidents, mass population screening, and medical education purposes. The performance of the proposed system is demonstrated using f...
متن کاملDesigning Multimedia Quality-based Advanced Videoconferencing Applications for Telemedicine over the Internet
Telemedicine and related healthcare technologies aim to provide efficient healthcare to improve the well being of patients and bring medical expertise at a lower cost to people who are geographically separated. This field has evolved over the past thirty years and today most telemedicine applications still use expensive leased telecommunication circuits to provide secured reliable connections. ...
متن کاملAn Efficient Adaptive Boundary Matching Algorithm for Video Error Concealment
Sending compressed video data in error-prone environments (like the Internet and wireless networks) might cause data degradation. Error concealment techniques try to conceal the received data in the decoder side. In this paper, an adaptive boundary matching algorithm is presented for recovering the damaged motion vectors (MVs). This algorithm uses an outer boundary matching or directional tempo...
متن کاملAn Improved Motion Vector Estimation Approach for Video Error Concealment Based on the Video Scene Analysis
In order to enhance the accuracy of the motion vector (MV) estimation and also reduce the error propagation issue during the estimation, in this paper, a new adaptive error concealment (EC) approach is proposed based on the information extracted from the video scene. In this regard, the motion information of the video scene around the degraded MB is first analyzed to estimate the motion type of...
متن کاملA Machine Learning Approach to No-Reference Objective Video Quality Assessment for High Definition Resources
The video quality assessment must be adapted to the human visual system, which is why researchers have performed subjective viewing experiments in order to obtain the conditions of encoding of video systems to provide the best quality to the user. The objective of this study is to assess the video quality using image features extraction without using reference video. RMSE values and processing ...
